Some characters from an iOS game by Broken Kings I’m working on called Castle Conflict 2 * U*
The two characters with the crests (main protagonist), and the two characters with the glasses (your advisor) are actually just two characters and their genderbends. You as the player get to choose their gender at the start of the game : >
Now…I just gotta give them all a range of emotions ; u;
Edit: I forgot to upload the male advisor Haahaha!
Castle Conflict 2 is coming along nicely >=^D
Listening To: Justice for Saint Mary (Diablo Swing Orchestra)
Thoughts: Final track on Diablo Swing Orchestra’s newly released third album, “Pandora’s Pinata” - and what a send off! For most of the song, it’s the bands lead male vocalist accompanied by some nice violin, but after the lyrical part is over, in come the guitars - crunchy and heavy and perfect for pumping you up. But then the band throws in a total curveball by degenerating into electronic awesomeness (and adding yet another genre to this bands already interesting blend of swing, opera, and metal). Somehow this all not only works, but makes you want to hit the “play” button on your stereo and listen through the album again.
Acquired: Deerhoof - Vs. Evil
Thoughts: I’ve listened to this one a couple times on Grooveshark already so I already know it’s good stuff. Still, listening to it last night on my stereo instead of on headphones was a great experience … definitely a good album. Very accessible tunes with childlike singing, boosted in quality by the interesting instrumentation that emerges from time to time (the bands noise-rock roots and pop music sensibility works great together). I’m definitely enjoying this one.
Listening To: The Nothing Show (Idiot Flesh)
Thoughts: Irreverent opening to Idiot Flesh’s second album. Sung to the classic childhood melody of “Wheels on the bus”, although it breaks down into a dark, aggressive bit at the end. The lyrics are pretty dang amusing as well, as they demand you (the listener) write your middle name on the side of an egg to get the show started.
Listening To: Apocalypso (Mew)
Thoughts: It’s a little weird to list anything from this album on its own, because every track on it flows together smoothly so it feels more like one large suite. But this song is absolutely killer, and needs to be shared … it’s got awesome guitars and energy and that dreamy pop sound that Mew has mastered so well.

I’m excited to begin recording at the end of July. We’ve got the studio booked from July 28 til August 6, Mark, John, Gabe, Mat, Rich, Ariel and I will be toiling for 9 days…
The aim is to record as much of it “live” as possible (with overdubs to complete later). The vocals will be done a few weeks later, also as much live as possible so we can feed off each other’s energy. A good deal of Snowtorch was recorded live and I thought there was some good energy in those performances.
Here’s hoping this concluding chapter will cap things off nicely! (and I hope we can finish it in time for the end of the world in December…)
Acquired: Alamaailman Vasarat - Huuro Kulko
Thoughts: In recent grooveshark explorations, I came across the wonderful Höry-Kone, a Finnish avant-prog band that was simply amazing. Well, it turns out that not only did they break up, but also that their two albums are freaking impossible to find anywhere. Luckily, it seems Alamaailman Vasarat are one of the bands that rose from their ashes, and furthermore, they are also awesome.
